Q: Are there referees?

Posted 9/20/2014

A: No. Using referees actually slows the games down and to some degree elevates the agressiveness on the ice. It often creates a scenario where some players want to see what they can get away with (we've all seen this before).

Instead we have well established rules that are governed by the team captains on the ice. For the most part we follow the same rules as the NHL - however have a few modified rules to accomodate when the plays stop and we don't facilitate a face off. These modified rules can be found here and it is encouraged that you become familiar with them prior to playing your first game (they are very straight foreward). The convener will also discuss these with you prior to the start of your first game (at the arena).
